Thai Pre-natal and Postpartum Care
This hybrid three day class begins with one day of online live Zoom training in preparation for a two day live workshop in the yurt in Gresham Oregon. This class is open to anyone wishing to offer compassionate traditional care for pregnant and postpartum clients, friends, family, partners or self. The content for this course is the result of multiple journeys to Thailand, working with midwives and other practitioners to gain understanding of how to better nurture those going through the tremendous transition of pregnancy and childbirth. Class size is limited to 8 students.
Wednesday July 31st

11 am to 5 pm Pacific Standard Time
In the online portion of class we will focus on medical theory and culture. This portion of class will cover topics such as the physiological changes of each trimester, traditional nutritional and herbal care, and cultural practices and views. Please note that topics of miscarriage, stillbirth and abortion will be (tenderly) broached.
Saturday & Sunday August 3rd -4th
In-person workshop
10:30 am - 5:30 pm Pacific Standard Time
The in-person workshop portion of class will focus on hands-on experiential learning in the herb room and yurt. On Saturday we will make Thai pre-natal herbal compresses and learn Thai pre-natal massage. Time allowing we will also dive into Thai infant massage.
On Sunday we will immerse ourselves in the study and practice of “yoo fai”, Thai postpartum practices including herbal compresses, herbal vaginal steaming and smoking, abdominal binding, clay pot and hot brick massage and more.

In support, ally-ship, and protection of our disabled, immunocompromised, vulnerable, and careful (full of care) community, the in-person portion of this workshop will be a masked class. Students are required to wear N95 or better masks, which will be provided for anyone who needs them. Additionally excellent air ventilation and purification protocols will be in place.
