Reusi Da Ton
Fundamentals Series
With guest instructor Damion Bond
Reusi da ton is a collection of ancient Thai self care practices ranging from meditation and breath work to flexibility and strengthening postures and exercises. Some call it “Thai yoga”; while it shares some deep history with the roots of traditional yoga systems of India and Tibet, it is uniquely Thai. It is possible that Thai massage as we know it today grew out of reusi da ton. Thai massage practitioners learning reusi da ton will gain a richer understanding of the bodywork modality we love so much while learning practices to prolong our own health and vitality as well as assisting clients with techniques to maintain their well being.
Each workshop in the series is stand alone and can be taken without the others, although the full series is recommended, with students who register for the full series receiving a $60 discount. For each student to benefit from personal instruction cohort size is kept small with a maximum of 10 students.
Workshop Series
Postures for Strength and Mobility
December 13th - 15th, 2024
This three day workshop will focus on the practices and postures of Reusi Dat Ton, with specific attention to the stretches that strengthen and increase mobility of the body’s core, the shoulders and the hips. Working with the traditional model of RDT, class will incorporate chanting, breathing techniques and a 15 posture series. This workshop will assist a practitioner to invigorate and tonify their body in preparation for their massage practice.
Postures for Balance and Endurance
April 25th - 27th, 2025
This workshop will focus on cultivating and using the nourishing breath through a range of postures that assist balance. Through practicing deep breathing while sustained in simple postures, our bodies strengthen and become more resilient. For a massage practitioner, these techniques allow for endurance, agility, and more skillful anatomical awareness. We will study a series of 15 standing and seated postures, and practice the accompanying traditional chanting.
Postures for Grounding and Vitality
August 22nd 24th, 2025
This workshop will focus on utilizing Reusi Dat Ton postures to calm and to invigorate the body. Using the nourishing breath, traditional chanting and a series of seated and standing postures, we will assist a practitioner through stretches that soothe fatigue, increase heat, strengthen the body, calm and ground the mind. Students will study 15 postures to both practice and to share with clients who are in need.
